This really isn't the best part of the site to discuss dub quality, as everyone's opinion varies. I actually just read a couple forums that mentioned some of the roles in the English version of Gintama as being among the best of the year, particularly Chris Patton in the lead. Please keep that in mind and be a little more considerate in your future postings and remember that not everyone shares your opinion. I feel similarly about the dubs for Ouran, FMA, and Deadmans Wonderland, so mileage varies. Also remember that the same people that worked on GinTama also worked on nearly every other dub on this site. I also happen to be a big fan of English dubs, but I'm not familiar with either of the actors you listed.

Anyway, the problem appears to be an Amazon server outage, which will likely take some time to track down and repair. I've notified the Mods and Admins. In the future, please post in the appropriate threads that you have been directed to. Thank you.

I've tried various episodes of the following shows and haven't been able to get anything to play. I either get the message about, or the video simply never loads and the play icon reappears.

A-Channel
Clannad After Story
High School of the Dead
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions
Love, Elections, and Chocolate

It appears that there is an Amazon server outage. Given the recent hiccups on nearly every other streaming site that utilizes AWS, I guess this shouldn't come as a surprise.

I'm sending messages to the Admins and Mods. Thanks for reporting the problems.

ANNOUNCEMENT

AS OF 6AM, JANUARY 3RD, THERE IS AN AMAZON SERVER OUTAGE THAT IS AFFECTING ALL TAN SUBSCRIBER VIDEOS. CURRENTLY, NO MEMBER VIDEOS ON THE NATIVE TAN/JW PLAYER ARE WORKING. MODERATORS HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND HOPEFULLY THE SERVICE WILL BE BACK UP SOMETIME LATER TODAY.

This outage affects virtually all videos on both the online video player and the iOS app.

This does not affect free Guest videos hosted on Hulu. If you wish to watch any videos that are free to guests, you will need to log out first so you are redirected to the Hulu player. Please see individual episodes for which videos are free to guests.

Thank you for your patience.

Bug reports need to be posted to Anime Network Online Player Reports/Problems/Updates Thread.

I have submitted a bug report with the required information: Screen shots showing exactly which particular Amazon server is not responding.

I second that motion.

The JWPlayer appears to be configured to use no buffering at all.

Thanks! I didn't even know that a bug report thread existed. I skimmed the titles of every forum category and I expected to see a tech support / bug report forum, but since I didn't I incorrectly guessed that there wasn't one so came here instead. I'll go ahead and report bugs to that link in the future. Not that I figure I'll be subscribing to TAN very long given the poor performance I've been getting and the limited selection of product.

Thanks for the reports, everyone! We are working to get everything back online.

We're back online and streaming now.

We're going to continue monitoring the system, so if anyone gets a "Server not found" or "File not found" message today, please post a message here.

Additionally, we're working on the buffering issue many of you have been encountering.

The buffering problem is to the point that watching is almost impossible as it goes buffering at least twice a minute for anywhere from 5 seconds to about 30 seconds.
This is unwatchable and is only happening on TAN .
2 laptops and a desktop all act the same no mater if at home-McD's- or at coffee shop.
NO PROBLEMS AT CRUNCHYROLL, HULU, OR ANY OTHER SITE.

I had a tech from the IP provider come out to check the system and his findins were that all 3 computers were DL @ 18-20 Mbs which is great.

If this can't be corrected soon you may see an exodus of people look to find somewere else to lay down their money.

Agreed. Only reason I decided to get a subscription was because of the awesome Anime selection but seriously it makes it unbearable to watch. I'm getting 16-20 MBPS with zero problems streaming Netflix all day long, shows load in less than 4 seconds with no interruptions.

You should find the buffering issue much improved. We've fixed an issue that was causing the system to overload certain servers.

Let us know if you continue to see issues.

Buffering problem is still an issue. Doesnt matter which show I watch they all start the bufffering spam. Its nor my machine or my connection.

Edit : When I made this post it was around 3am I think so I didnt include info such as connection speeds and the like cause I was lazy.

Speedtest.net Results: 13.36 Down and 4.49 up ( Verizon Fios and connecting through a Wireless to the Modem ) Also my machine is a Dual Core 2.4Ghz with 6 GBs of RAM and a set of Crossfired 512 MB ATI Video cards. So my machine should have no issues running any streaming videos. I tried running Crunchy Netflix and Funimation and have no issues there.

Odd.
I just checked it myself, and it loads for me just fine.

-edit-
Though I just now noticed it's an ipad thing that's mentioned, and not the site proper.
As I can't test an ipad, you can basically ignore my post.

I've pretty much given up on watching anything in HD on this site. The buffering is terrible.

Even in Standard definition, I had a lot of problems with the first episode of Psychic Squad.

This happened a few weeks ago. I normally don't complain, since the last time I complained about a service problem, the site moderators treated me like it was my fault.

They gave me a "negative Karma point" whatever that is. I could care less what they think, but I am a paying customer. Customer service here is not what I consider professional.

It wasn't a site moderator that knocked your karma down. It was another member of the site that did so. The moderators usually don't touch karma ratings, especially for members who post rarely.

Also, no one treated you like the problem was your fault. You were asked to provide some additional information so they could narrow down what was causing the issue. The issue you experienced was not universal and many people had no issues whatsoever. Settings on the player or server may have needed to be adjusted to work with the particular set of hardware and software that you were utilizing. This was explained to you then, but you instead of providing the information the admins needed to look into your issue, you became defensive and disrespecfful. That is why one of the members knocked your karma down. In fact, I have a pretty good idea who it was that knocked you down a peg. The fact that you are a paying customer does not give the right to be rude to other paying members of the site. The karma system, in a way, is similar to the rating system on eBay, and allows our members to keep track of disrespectful or disruptive posters.

The admins here are more than willing to help you, but in the future, please review the first post in this thread and provide the requested information. As you've been told before, the issue you are experiencing is not universal and its nearly impossible to track down without further information. Some people are experiencing and issue with buffering, while others are not. Some that are experiencing the buffering issue are only noticing it during high traffic times or on slower networks. For instance, the only time I've experienced any issues with buffering was while using our extremely slow wifi network at work. At home and on 3G, it has been fine for me. Not everyone has the same set of hardware, software, and utilizes the same network. That's why the information is asked for.

I noticed while watching Hell Girl season 3 in HD that the buffering only happens at certain points. About 10 seconds into intro, 10 seconds into the opening credits, about halfway into Ai's transformation, and about a minute into the end credits (hope that makes sense). It happens this way on evey episode so there's really no actual time (mm:ss) that it happens. I just thought it was weird that it happened this way just at these points so decided to mention it. Thanks!

No issue running it in SD. 18.63/mbps using IE9 with everyhing up to date running on an HP dv7 laptop 8gig. Win7 64bit

Hello,
New user here having some issues here. Per the first post, below is the relevant data.

* Frequent buffering stops, as well as playback issues (screen stopping with sound continuing)
* So far this has been a continuing problem (only about a day or so, however)
* I have been seeing this with multiple shows and episodes
* Dubbed
* Both versions (SD and HD) show this effect
* Windows 7 64bit (both systems)
* Multiple browsers (ie 8 (32bit and 64bit) and chrome multiple versions) and computers (2.8 ghz 12 gig ram PC, and 2ghz 4g ram laptop).
* Plugin is up to date (downloaded the newest version)
* Cable connection. Network is time warner (out of southern california)
* www.speedtest.net test results
18.52mb/s uplink
.97mb/s downlink
As a side note I have no issues streaming from other sources. I am only seeing this with this service.

Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks.
