Be sure to make sure your fingers are out of the doorframe when closing the door.

I accidentally shut my van side door on my left index fingertip this afternoon; it still hurts, swollen a bit but most of the bruise is under the nail, so it has no place to swell to. Hurts just to touch things. Hurt so bad when I did it it made me nauseous, I've never experienced pain like that before. But I can move it a little so I don't think I broke it. I wasn't even pushing the door that hard, but... (insert expletives here).

Did that once with a metal door and lost most of the finger nail.

It least you didn't lose any digits. I always hate hurting my fingers though, makes work and using the computer much more difficult for a couple days.

It does happens. In this fast paced world we live in, your mind can be on a million things at once and without hestitation slam your fingers in the door.

Well I had a good blood blister under the bottom half of the nail, but the top is attached. I popped it purposely, carefully at the sides and disinfected it and have kept it wrapped for a few days, and it seems to be healing, but I don't know what will happen when/if the nail grows on out. Still pretty ugly inside, it must have bled a little more, but I did bang it a couple times on stuff. Hope I don't have to punch anyone with that hand anytime soon.

That would hurt like hell! But at least you've still got the nail.

3 1/2 weeks later it still feels wierd -

Oooh. You want to hear a finger abuse story? I was playing dodgeball in gym class 2 years ago and a hard-thrown ball clipped my thumb and bent it in ways it should not have been able to bend. Hurt like hell at the time, and I still get occasional pain spasms from it.

Must have bruised the bone. Zaku + Dodgeball... Two years and still having problems is bad, buddy.
