Hmm...according to CR, this show's published by Fuji Creative Corporation. I guess that means they're the ones who own the license to the anime. If I remember correctly, didn't Sentai/Maiden Japan state that they'd be releasing future shows from FCC, which Glass Maiden is part of.

Hmm....very interesting.

Very interesting indeed.
Well I hope so at least.

NIS America Licenses Bunny Drop TV Anime

posted on 2012-04-28 12:30 EDT

11-episode series from Production I.G to get BD, DVD release on August 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NIS America (NISA), the American subsidiary of the Nippon Ichi Software game company, announced at its panel at Anime Central on Saturday that it will release the Bunny Drop (Usagi Drop) television anime series in a premium edition on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on August 7. The release will include four bonus episodes and a hardcover art book.

The anime studio Production I.G adapted the 11-episode television anime series based on Yumi Unita's original manga. Yen Press released the fifth volume of the manga last month. In the manga and anime adaptation, 30-year-old bachelor Daikichi (Hiroshi Tsuchida) discovers a little girl named Rin (Ayu Matsuura) in his grandfather's garden while at his grandfather's funeral. Rin is the 6-year-old daughter of Daikichi's grandfather, and Daikichi decides to take her in when no one in the family accepts the responsibility.

The manga was nominated for last year's Eisner Awards. The manga also received a live-action film version adaptation, which opened in Japan last August.

The anime ran in Fuji TV's Noitamina block from July through September 2011. Crunchyroll streamed the series in various countries as it aired in Japan.

Just a heads up. NIS just sent over a note to let us know that the upcoming Bunny Drop Premium set is, after filling all retailer pre-orders, completely sold out at wholesale. We will be getting 100% of what we pre-ordered, but will not be able to get anymore after that in until September. This has been the most heavily pre-ordered title for us so far this year, and we currently have about 65% of our allocation already booked out to customers. The sets are on the way to us now and will arrive Monday or Tuesday, so if you haven't gotten one yet get your order in soon or you'll end up having to wait until September.

Interesting, I seriously didn't think this series was that popular. I hope I get mine from Rightstuf. I should since I've had it pre-ordered since early May...

Shame I had to cancel mine to get something that was OOP. Oh well I'm sure I'll be able to get it in some form later on. While the OOP thing doubt I'll see it for that price again. NISA may be cutting the initial prints down to a set number then decide on printing more or not once they get all the pre-order numbers in.

Dropping the Usagi - Time to Marathon

Whats up guys,

Hope you're all enjoying this MONSTROUS season with more anime than you can handle.
However, despite all these great titles being delivered to you each and every week, one of our catalog titles will be going away due to licensing restrictions: Usagi Drop.

You will have until the stroke of midnight Pacific Time on March 1 (or 2/28 at 11:59:59) to check out this manga-adapted series before it goes back into the Crunchyroll Anime Vault.

Just because it's streaming capabilites are gone, doesn't mean that you can't ever watch it!
That's right, you can still pick up your copy of Usagi Drop right here on the Crunchyroll Store.

Before you start marathoning this heart-wrenching series, here's a little sample of what it's all about:

Usagi Drop - Official Preview

And for those that like to read:
"By force of circumstances, a 30-year-old single man with a full-time job suddenly starts raising a 6-year-old girl. While running each other ragged, the two of them gradually grow into a “family”. This is the long-awaited anime version of “Bunny Drop”, the extremely popular and finely crafted comic by Yumi Unita. It’s a heartwarming and entertaining work that naturally depicts child-raising experiences, but also the instantly relatable warmth and noise of being in a family."

Hope you all enjoy it while you still can!
