CLAMP to create story, designs for latest Blood anime from Production I.G; manga also planned

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The May issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Monthly Shonen Ace magazine is announcing on Saturday that the anime studio Production I.G and the manga creator quartet CLAMP are collaborating on a new Blood original anime called Blood-C, which will launch this July. CLAMP is creating the story and original character designs, and Production I.G is handling the animation.

In addition, Ranmaru Kotone (Diasta of Ultima Thule, Toki wo Kakeru Shojo: Tokikake-) will adapt the project into a manga, which will launch in the July issue of Shonen Ace on May 26. The official website for the project will open at the www.blood-c.jp address, which was registered by Aniplex.

The Blood vampire anime franchise began with Hiroyuki Kitakubo and Production I.G's Blood: The Last Vampire film, in which Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers) and Kenji Kamiyama (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East) created the story and screenplay. The film inspired Jun'ichi Fujisaku's Blood+ television series, Chris Nahon's live-action film remake, and several manga spinoffs.

I've enjoyed the previous entries in the Blood franchise, so I'll probably check this new series out, too.

Blood the Last Vampire was meh, but I loved Blood +(especially that second half), and Blood the live action movie was horrendous.

I think I will check this show out but only if it is simulcast, which it should be this is looking like the series of the season in popularity.

www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-06-30...e-sama-outside-japan

Starting next month, the online video service NicoNico will stream the anime series Blood-C and Uta no Prince Sama (Uta no Prince-sama— Maji Love 1000%) overseas, right after the first broadcast of each episode in Japan. The overseas streams will be available exclusively for one week in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

NicoNico.com is the English version of Nico Nico Douga, the popular Japanese website known for its user-submitted videos and live streams of events. Its signature features include scrolling comments that users can superimpose on top of videos (although the comments can be switched off by the viewer).

NicoNico is working to stream more anime titles outside Japan soon.

Update: Each episode will be free for one week. After that, there is a one-time subscription fee of US$0.25 for all episodes during the ongoing beta period. This US$0.25 fee for membership covers not just these two anime, but also covers all of NicoNico's membership services, such as the ability to stream live from your own camera-equipped computer onto NicoNico's site. The streams for the two announced anime will be English-subtitled.

I just signed up and as someone who has never used Nico Nico before, can I turn off the comments being covered on the video, I mean now that it is simulcast I am going to check it out. Also, can I pause the player and let the videos buffer?

I've not used it since it was popular to make a account for the Japanese site ,but should be able to turn the comments off. Not sure about the buffering. I have a decent connection back then so never was a issue.

Yes, you can turn the comments off. The toggle for comments is the button at the bottom right that looks like a speech balloon with "..." inside.

The videos do appear to buffer. I have yet to press play, but the bar at the bottom of the screen is growing.

Personally, I would keep the comments off, since they'd be annoying while watching the video.

As for the second thing, yes, you can. It's about average speed on the buffering, so it could take a while, but when I watched Blood-C, I let it buffer for like 5 minutes and I didn't have a problem throughout the episode, I was still buffering while watching it too.

Finished up ep. 01

Hmm, it actually wasn't too bad.
A little slow and awkward, but all in all not bad.

:pinch: Warning: Spoiler!

The animation as a whole though is gorgeous.
