ah how the IRS screws everyone by not being able to read... maybe it they fix the tax codes to make sense it would prevent such non-sense.

unles i read it wrong, and the IRS failed to notify the state department, and by doing so the state dept decided the business went OOB.

but its New York so "what ya 'spect?"

The IRS has nothin to do with it. It was solely a state issue. Media Blasters did file an extension, but that only gave them until April of 2011, which is why the state took that action. They are working to resolve it though, but tax issues can take years to work through. It is technically MB's fault, but it's not the end of the tale for them.

So that's what was up with the delays and cancelations eh? Well, I hope they don't kick the bucket too, but I can't say I didn't see it coming if they do.

EDIT:
Quote by MB

For all concerned about the ANN story, MB is not out of business or closing down its operation. What happen was the following. MB filed extensions for 2009, 10 and 11. Without notice or us knowing it could happen, the Secretary of State took action. We have now finished our 2009, 2010 and filing and will get the action reversed. We already spoke with them. The company continues to run, continues to release titles. It seems during the last TAF, our competitors decided to spread this paper around which has made life difficult.

Well, that's good.

I can't believe I didn't hear about this until now (someone from twitter told me about it). Very crazy. I sort of believe media blasters on this, it wouldn't be the first time ANN said they contacted someone when they kind of didn't.

New York Lists Media Blasters as an Active Business

posted on 2012-08-21 20:00 EDT

North American anime distributor previously listed as dissolved due to tax filings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The North American anime distributor Media Blasters Inc. announced on Tuesday that the New York State Department of State lists the company as an active business as of this month. Media Blasters was previously dissolved by proclamation of the state as of April 27, 2011.

Media Blasters had said in May that it filed for extensions on its taxes for 2009, 2010, and 2011, but the New York Secretary of State had declared the company dissolved. The company had been working since then to restore its active status with the state.
