The October issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Nyantype magazine is reporting on Tuesday that the television anime adaptation of Yukito Ayatsuji's Another horror novel will premiere next January. The website for the anime already revealed that the anime would air in 2012 with original character designs by Noizi Ito (Haruhi Suzumiya, Shakugan no Shana). The 2009 novel centers around a school class that has a curse, and the string of unavoidable deaths that befall the boys and girls in that class.

Tsutomu Mizushima (Blood-C, XXXHOLiC) will direct the anime at the studio P.A. Works. Ryou Higaki (Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit) is in charge of the scripts, and Yuriko Ishii (Persona -trinity soul-) is adapting Ito's designs for animation.

The "0th" limited-edition volume of Hiro Kiyohara's manga adaptation of Yukito Ayatsuji's horror novel Another will ship next May with "episode 0" of the anime version.

The bundled anime episode will not be aired and is not part of the television anime series that will premiere this January. It also depicts a part of the story that is not in the original novel. The all-new episode will depict the story of the character Mei Misaki leading up to the main anime series.

Kiyohara's manga has been running in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace magazine since last year.

The media distribution website Crunchyroll announced on Friday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Yukito Ayatsuji's Another horror novel. The series will stream on Mondays at 1:00 p.m. EST, starting on January 9, and it will be available in North America, South America, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden.

Crunchyroll announced they'll be streaming the mystery-horror anime Another, based on Yukito Ayatsuji's 2009 novel published by Kadokawa Shoten. You'll be able to catch it as part of the winter season Mondays at 10 AM Pacific, starting January 9th.

Here's the official synopsis:

“That class in the school held a secret that nobody must speak of…Spring, 1998. When Kouichi Sakakibara transfers to Yomiyama North Middle School, he senses something out of place in the atmosphere of a class that seems to be afraid of something. Kouichi is drawn to a mysterious girl, Mei Misaki, and tries to make contact with her, only to find more mysteries. As he does, the class is stricken by a disaster that nobody could have imagined! Just what is going on in this ‘world’?”
