Minami Kuribayashi Returns to Sing 2nd Medaka Box Opening

Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing that Minami Kuribayashi will sing the opening for the recently announced second season of Medaka Box. Kuribayashi sang the first season's opening, "Happy Crazy Box." She more recently performed the ending theme for this season's science-fiction mecha series Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse anime series.

The first 12 episodes of Medaka Box aired from April to June, and Crunchyroll streamed the season into several countries as it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed the season in North America.

Medaka Box's 2nd Season Titled, Dated

This year's 40th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is revealing on Monday that the second season of Medaka Box is titled Medaka Box Abnormal and that it will premiere on October 10 on TV Tokyo. The magazine already confirmed the second season in June.

The story follows Medaka (voiced by Aki Toyosaki), the strongest girl in Hakoniwa Academy and head of the school's student council. The student body can submit pleas for help into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. Together with council members Zenkichi (Yuuki Ono), Akune (Daisuke Namikawa), and Kikaijima (Ai Kayano), she takes on the challenges in the school that include supernatural powers and near-constant battles.

The Japanese production company Media Factory began streaming the first advance promotional video for Medaka Box Abnormal, the second anime season based on NisiOisin and Akira Akatsuki's Medaka Box manga, on Wednesday. The video features the members of the Thirteen Party and the opening theme song sung by Minami Kuribayashi.
