They don't do it on purpose, their eyes are just bad so they can't read the label on the hair dye box that says your only supposed to leave it in for fifteen minutes.

There is a ring of trees around the southern most part of greenland even though the rest is ice. When the first explorers came all they saw was the trees so they named it Greenland, I don't know about Iceland though.
