Just saw The Amazing Spider-Man and I loved it. New cast FTW!

You shouldn't even be on it if your room is a furnace. The CPU will be screaming and that's bad. If you have a laptop, still open some windows or have some fans running at least so you let a breeze circulate.
Summer is not kind to technology so you have to do the best you can. AC helps a great deal.

Indeed. That's why a lot of computers are designed to shut off when the CPU overheats, to prevent further damage. If your computer is overheating, it's a good idea to get some compressed air in a can and spray all the dust out of it (don't use a vacuum!). Dust clogs up the fan blades, and covers up the heat-sink. It inhibits airflow, and is absolutely evil to electronics.

If you have a laptop, the bottom can get very hot, so put something in the four corners to lift it up off the surface of what its resting on to allow airflow to the bottom of the laptop.

If it gets hot enough (and I mean REALLY hot), a CPU can and will melt. So if your computer is shutting down due to overheating, let it cool off before turning it back on, and cool the room down if you can.

I personally keep my computer on almost 24/7 so I always try to keep my room cool. I keep a fan in my window all winter, and put an AC in my window as soon as the temperatures stay above freezing when spring comes around. I like cold weather so it works out well for me

Well, to explain exactly why it shut off I will relay some information about my computer that I'm sure I've told you before (but I'm not surprised if you forgot, seeing how most people do):
My parents, in responce to my lacking grades in Freshman and beginning Sophomore years, added a time constraint to my computer. It's much better than it used to be (like, 5 hours better for a total of 8), but I still have to log off at 11PM and can't get on until 10AM the next day. The software that is supposed to make sure I don't stay on too long glitched and kicked me off of the computer a couple of minutes early... DESTROYING MY HARD WORK WITH NO REPARATIONS OR HOPE OF REDEMPTION. I was ten seconds away from copying (in case the posting malfunctioned) and then posting it when the window popped up and blocked me out.
I spent the next five minutes banging my head on my desk (or any other wooden object around my room since they make the best sound), and then the next hour and a half trying to calm my frustration with some Cowboy Bebop. I will admit, it did rustle my jimmies, but I should be fine now since someone else made the point I was going to.

And they lived happily ever after...

^ I made this. :3
I wish for all of my days to be happy and filled with flowers! <3

Ah yes, I remember having a short discussion about this before... however, even if you did copy whatever it was you wrote, if your computer shut down entirely, you would lose whatever was on your clipboard when the computer shut off. Unless it just locks you out, then it would still be there.

Anyway, you should totally get rid of that software, it sounds evil. Besides, it's Summer now! Why is it still on!?

The horrors I went through before 2011. I felt like I was abusing the poor thing. I'm glad it didn't melt or anything b/c all I had was natural air. A lot of good that was. So glad we got an AC. Throughout the hellwaves, this CPU is one tough cookie. It even survived a brown out.

That's what I have a UPS for! If the voltage drops too low, the battery kicks in and gives me a chance to shut down my computer. Though since my computer uses so much power already, the battery only lasts a few minutes.

Trust me, I would get rid of it if I could (though I do have a few reasons that I may want to keep it), but my parents have domain over it, so I can't do anything unless I somehow find out the passcode to it or the Owner account on my computer (both of which are quite impossible for me to figure out, seeing how they are random assortments of letters and numbers). ^-^;

I've spent too many years supporting end user PC's where the software was flaky, the hardware was flaky or the users themselves were a hazard. There's no way I would put crippleware on a PC. Sorry, it's a bad idea as you know.

My own three boys have always had unrestricted access to their PC's, Game Consoles, etc. Never been a problem as far as their education was concerned.

Oh they would spend too much time online, sure, but they also worked harder to make up for it. So it balanced out in the end.

When my brother and I were younger, our router was setup to disable internet access at like 9pm or 10pm, I can't remember the exact time. We didn't get why, since neither of us actually went to bed at that time anyway, so there was no reason to restrict our access to the internet. So we told my mom that we wanted the restriction removed and if we did worse in school, or were too tired in the morning it was our own fault and we would take responsibility for it. Worked perfectly

Not that it would have been difficult to remove the restriction myself and change the router password to keep them from putting the restriction back, but I didn't.
