The blackout isn't all bad though. Many networks should benefit a great deal from this. Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and if households have it, The Hub which I think is severely overlooked. The Hub to me is Discovery Communication's Nick and I feel kids should check it out. Look even if kids decide to go outside and play, they're still going to watch TV and has to make a decision.
This is a perfect time for kids to broaden their cable horizons a bit. Nick should not be the end all be all destination. I personally watch 3 different networks namely Nicktoons, CN and The Hub.
Interesting things I heard today from DirecTV's CEO. He said that Viacom channels make up 20% of their viewership and that a deal with Viacom is "far away." We could be looking at least a 1-2 week blackout. A month at the worst.
UPDATE: At least DirecTV softened the blow by getting Disney Junior for the kiddies.
