Man, I'm trying to start Grandia 1 right now, and it's all kinds of old school RPG. Right down to the opening sequence being about a half hour long, and obnoxiously boring.
I loved Grandia, for the most part. I liked Grandia 2 much more though.
I've only ever played Grandia II, my first rpg, and god damn it that was an amazing RPG as well. There was also a Grandia Extreme after 2, and well as a Grandia III which I missed as well.
Have you guys every played any of the Penumbra games?
Penumbra would best be described as a first person survival-horror adventure game. A lot of the game is exploring and solving puzzles. You can interact with just about any object in the game environment, and it is one creepy game. One aspect that makes it so creepy, is that you aren't given any real weapons, so you have to hide from the "monsters" in the game. There's 2 games in the series, and then a third game which is really just an expansion to the second game. They're all available on steam for a pretty decent price.
Those of you who have played and enjoyed penumbra, may be interested in Amnesia: The Dark Descent, which was just released. It's made by the same guys who did penumbra, and looks to have pretty similar game play.
I played Tales of the Abyss, never finished it though, it got stolen a while back. It was REALLY FUN the short time i got to play it, I hear Tales of Grsces is making it's way to the PS3.
I've played both "Tales of Symphonia" games and loved them both. They were great because you could play multi-player, something usually lacking from most RPG's. However, I haven't finished either one yet. Apparently, if you beat the first, you can load bonus content in the second. I wish I had known that before I started it...
I loved the first Symphonia. I never played the sequel seeing as i do not have a Wii. Im playing Tales of Vesperia (the newest one) on 360 right now though pretty close to beating it. They released an enhanced port on the ps3 with double the script and alot more extras. Next Tales of This is the website for the next Mothership title. I'm pretty positive its the countdown for the official reveal. As of now they only have concept art released though. :/
So Tokyo Game Show is currently going on. Some interesting stuff to mention, but one thing stands out quite a bit. One thing I've seen getting pages of discussion on gaming forums. That thing would be Dante's new look in the forthcoming 'DMC'.
