It looks a lot like the Wiimote with Wii Motion Plus, but it still looks like fun. I'd like to see them implement these controls into a "hardcore" game as opposed to a more casual one.
What "hardcore" game do you recommend they try?
No idea, I hate to use "casual" and "hardcore" because I see games as just games. I just always hear people promising to deliver to the "hardcore" audience, but the motion sensory controls only seem to appeal to the casuals.

What do people consider hardcore, Demon Souls?
Hmm, its all about perception. I think of the violent games would be good candidates. Any game that requires lots of skills would be interesting to see.

What I raise my eyebrow over is implementing the motion controls to games that are just fine with an analog stick and buttons. Luckily with the Wii, game developers weren't forced to use motion controls for their games--I'd imagine Brawl would be kinda weird with motion controls.
Like, if they used this PS3mote with Uncharted, it'd seem unnatural. They'd have to change the gameplay somehow to make it seem like the motion controls weren't gimmicky.
Hentai, I agree they would have to change the gameplay. I do enjoy the analog stick and buttons, I wish we could all stick to that instead of trying to get all fancy. People want fat gamers to lose weight and that is how the Wii Fit and all these games were conceived.
I think they did a study somewhere along the lines that said the Wii Fit doesn't actually provide any benefits, but ya.
I'd like to see what PS3 does with motion control, hopefully we'd get a good fighting game out besides the basic Wii Boxing stuff, that's about the only real "hardcore" approach I can see being semi worth while.

As for the "hardcore" vs "casual" games, I do believe there can be a pretty substantial difference between the two. It's fairly safe to say that games like Carnival Games or Wii Sports Resort would be considered casual when compared to FFXIII or Assassins Creed 2, for example.
Sure those are all considered games, but they do have their obvious classification differences. In a way, it would be like saying "There is no difference between Forza Motorsport 3 and God of War 3 because they are both video games," which is obviously kind of a silly statement.

It has you running around and doing push-ups--Wii Fit has to do something beneficial to your health. Maybe the study meant that it's inaccurate in tracking progress or something.

Yeah, you can say something is more casual compared to another, but when do you draw the line for the "casual" classification? Some people consider Assassin's Creed 2 casual (they're elitists, imo). Some people consider Pokemon hardcore. It's all relativity I suppose.
I've been wondering how I could watch files on my PS3/360 from my laptop, and I've finally found a way.
Whenever I'd have Vuze open on my MacBook, I'd always see an icon for it on my PS3's XMB. WELL, I stumbled upon a YouTube video that explains how to stream movies/music/pictures from your computer to your PS3/360. It's extremely easy, and all you need is Vuze.
Here's the tutorial:
Now I don't have to huddle around the laptop with my gf whenever we want to watch movies on my laptop.

Also, she says it's a good idea to use SD when converting files to be streamed, but I've used HD for both video and music files, and I've experienced no lag.
Edit: Seems like you can't view photos (at least on the PS3) using this method. It's too bad, I wanted to look at some boss pictures on my TV.
For my PS3 I just use this program: PS3 Media Server. They have version in Windows, Mac, and Linux, so it's fairly well supported. My friend installed it on his mac (tiger) with no problems, and it'll stream pretty much anything on the computer. Though I have mine limited to just my music, video, and picture folders. Mostly because I don't want people going through all the files on my computer, and that it's easier to get to my files that way anyway instead of starting at the C:drive.
So anyone else here been playing FFXIII? I know I've been on there so much that I haven't been on here, plus I'm losing sleep over it. It's just that amazing. I think I've logged over 40 hours now, and I still haven't approached the very end of the game. I don't even hate a single character, there isn't any characters that even unnerve me even a little. The battle system is amazing, it makes it so that every single fight is epic and always challenging, or at least never as easy as casting one giant spell that kills everyone off without you even think about what you had to do. Plus, I recently got the Sazh theme on my PS3 for getting the Loremaster achievement, which is probably one of the easiest to get really. Did I mention how much I love the token black guy in this game? Or Jailbait?
That being said, here's some comedy dubs for the first two scenes of the game, that I thought were amazing. This first one I thought particularily amazing, because right before this chick dies, I said "god I can't wait for this chick to die" and then my wish came true.
I'm kind of interested in FFXIII, but I'm hesitant in getting it because JRPGs don't really appeal to me. However, I heard from one vodcast I watch on YouTube that FFXIII was kind of like a beginning of a new era for JRPGs. They said that interest in video games in Japan is starting to decline pretty rapidly, so developers in the eastern market need to change their formula to better appeal to western gamers, since JRPGs aren't as popular here as, say, Gears of War.
From what I've heard, FFXIII is more "casual" than the other FFs--it has linear gameplay, you can use auto-attack so the game can figure out which attack best suits the situation, and you don't start leveling up your weapons until a bit later in the game. I even heard you don't gain any experience points for about the first hour or so! Definitely seems like their straying from the complexity of the older games; I believe one of the developers said they were making a point to make the game less "stressful" for players.
Anyway, I'll just link to the vodcast I'm talking about so you can watch the review for yourself, if you're interested. They're called NoobToob, and I usually trust their judgement on games because they generally enjoy the same things I do. Plus they're usually hilarious, so I watch their videos each week, even if they aren't reviewing games I'm interested in getting.
