I'm not sure why this show has to be banished to the once-a-week late night zone.

I distinctly remember "hearing" the powers that be at this new Toonami insist that they didn't have much money and were therefore limited to once a week and were picking up whatever scraps Funimation would toss 'em regarding new content. That doesn't jibe with them showing the new "hotness" from Aniplex, the company that styles itself the luxury anime publisher.

If they show it in HD then it's a better "buy" than the $160 Aniplex dvd release of this

If only Funimation would put that up on their streaming service in the immediate future...

Though I'd settle for them touring the cast of the dub around on the rest of the con circuit. Preferably to the cons that are of-size but not so large that they're crushed under their own weight: the cons where the attendance is in the thousands (10+ even) but where I can still get an autograph conveniently.

Why couldn't Funi have waited until this came out to have released their Black Lagoon 1s & 2nd Barrage rescues, or at least included space for this in the box for that? They've had that foresight with other releases so what gives? The mystery persists.

Unless we know that Aniplex sells more product, at their higher prices, than Funi & Sentai do, at their more civilized prices, I do not believe that we can say Aniplex makes more profit.


They are. Aniplex prices are absurd but buying an SD version of an HD show is almost as crazy. I don't think that the show is worth either price, and I definitely don't think that the blu-ray version should command that much of a premium over the DVD version but if you're gonna buy it, I believe that you should buy it the "right way". I'm somewhat shocked that Aniplex even continues to create a standalone DVD version that is cheaper than their DVD version; for the price of the Blu-ray version that release should also contain the DVDs.

I agree. I'd buy this at a Funimation price, maybe, but not at these luxury prices. If Aniplex wants to keep pricing its anime as a "luxury" then they should deliver anime that fits the bill: PMMM was not a show that I cared for in the least but it was (IMO) much more deserving of being classified as a "luxury" anime than is the pretty prosaic SAO. At least PMMM tried to "break the mold": SAO is just one of the thousands of anime cast with it.

How long is the the free trial period when you order a premium account subscription? And when does the billing cycle start? What days of each month does my card get charged?
