Olivier Caron and Alexis Garsault get together in 2001. They are soon joined by a bunch of friends and create the early line-up of Wildpath. After a couple of demos and a few gigs, the band cuts a first album, "Nyx Secrets", the recording of which is supervised by Willdric Lievain (Fairyland, Hamka). The album is released in Japan by Stay Gold in 2006, it enters HMV's Top 50 chart and Wildpath are elected as one of the Top 5 Best Heavy Metal Newcomers of the Year.
Marjolaine, Alexis, Olivier, Matthias, Pierre et Nicolas head back to their own studio in 2008 to start work on a second album. "Non Omnis Moriar", as a special bonus-filled advance edition, was release in Japan on July 15, 2009. A digipack version is available from Brennus Music.
Wildpath on stage is a real sight and sound treat. Because each member of the band has a strong classical background, their albums' musical technique is rendered with flamboyance, accuracy and sheer energy. Because all of them are moved by their passion of playing live, their sets are shared with the fans with intense keenness.
NON OMNIS MORIAR
The latin title of Wildpath's second album is inspired by Ancient Rome poet Horace's verses, which can be translated by "Not all of me will die". The music takes us through the maze of corridors of an old and sinister mansion, following the footsteps of a woman who keeps wondering whether she's still roaming the real world or drifting towards the Beyond. For the young lady, this quest for an answer could well be an allegory of a quest for her inner self. Being at the crossroads of heavy metal, symphonic music and film score, "Non Omnis Moriar" combines orchestral pieces with powerfull riffs and mesmerizing choirs. All 17 tracks, albeit independent to listen to, connect together in a single one-hour long number. Definitely musical, the album is a tidal wave of energetic and eclectic compositions. Definitely metal, its relentless beat takes you on one hell of a trip! (Via Myspace)
