Cosmo Warrior Zero
It's the end of the 30th century and the mechanized beings that humanity created become rogue and conquer their creators, enslaving humanity. Those who don't want to suffer their control have fled Earth. Zero receives an order from the supreme commander to hunt a space pirate called Captain Harlock, who is said to be allied with the mechanical men. Zero faces a difficult situation, as Harlock was the one who trained him and he only assaults the ships of the mechanical men.

It is the end of the 30th century and the galaxy is full of space frontiers. Zeth Water, The Governor General of the Outer Solar System, takes over and rules the earth. His reign is not without troubles, as space pirates attack the fleets. Commander Zero is ordered to hunt down the notoriou space pirate, Captain Harlock.

Zero captains the ship Karyu (Fire Dragon) and his human crew are not thrilled to learn that some of the crew mechanized. One of the squad leaders tries to put the mechanized crew under his control and they almost rebel.

The ship is full of frustration and hatred. They receive an SOS from a space station under attack. Zero rushes to aid the station, believing Captain Harlock might be the one behind the attack.

Karyu lands on the planet El Alamain, that used to be a base for the humans against the mechanized force. Captain Zero is following a lead that a mercenary named Heavy Grenadier lives there. He offers a place in his crew to the man who rejects the position.

Karyu heads for the planet Heavy Metal to visit the down Gunfrontier. Captain Zero wants information from Le Sylviana, a bounty hunter. Grenadier, Ishikura, Rai and the mechanized soldier Acceluter are sent to the town.

Captain Harlock comes to rescue Tochiro who was tricked by the bounty hunter Le Sylviana. Captain Zero worries about how long the crew has been gone and decides to go down to the town himself.

Captain Zero steers Karyu to save a planet under attack. Marina detects there is someone on the ship and finds the mechanized woman, Helmatear. Helmatear gets the best of Marina and escapes into the ship's confines.

Zero discovers that Marina is not a flesh & blood human. She escapes the hospital to search for Helmatear. Helmatear escapes the ship entirely and Marina pursues her with a fighter jet. Captain Zero follows the two.

Zero has to rescue a transportation ship the space pirates are attacking. He finds Captain Harlock's ship, Death Shadow III, at the battle. He realizes though the ship is an imposter and he destroys it.

Karyu is headed for Technologia. Captain Zero must pass through the area called Galaxy Iron Bridge to reach the planet and the gravity field is unstable in the area. Unfortunately the magnetic field causes chaos with the mechanized crew members.

Zeth Water and Helmetear are attempting to destroy Technologia completely. Zero joins the battle but he hesitates to use St. Elmo Cannons as he has to lift the defensive shield for 40 seconds while charging energy to the cannons. Zeth sends Karyu a message revealing Marina is not a human nor an earthling, unaware that Captain Zero is already aware of the fact.

Captain Harlock asks Captain Zero to fire the St. Elmo's Beam. Zero agrees but doesn't want to endanger the crew. He orders all the crew to leave the ship. Nobody moves from their station.

The St. Elmo's Beam is ready to use. However, the cooling system is overcharged. The countdown has started though and can't be stopped. Karyu is in a desperate situation.
